01 — The challenge
Too much data, not enough clarity
Ledger's old app had grown feature by feature for eight years. The home screen showed eleven widgets, three balances and a promo carousel, and customers told us they felt anxious every time they opened it.
Support data backed this up: 41% of tickets were questions the app already answered, just in the wrong place. Our brief was to cut the noise without removing anything people relied on.
02 — Approach
Designing around one question: “Am I okay?”
Step 01
Listen first
24 customer interviews and a diary study showed people check their bank to feel reassured, not to analyse.
Step 02
A calm “Today” home
One safe-to-spend number, upcoming bills and a single nudge replaced eleven widgets on the home screen.
Step 03
A readable timeline
Transactions grouped by day with clear merchant names, so spending reads like a story instead of a statement.
